Outlander Book Tag!

Hi guys, it seems like it has been a long wait for the Outlander season finale  (which hits my screen as I am in the UK tomorrow).  This season has been full of drama and strife but I will get into all that when I do the season wrap, will we ever see Roger and Brianna anyone? I have my fingers crossed for the finale…

Outlander Season 2 2016

For now, this is the Outlander book tag originally created by Sasha from abookutopia so let’s get into it!

1.You touch some standing stones and get transported back in time, what year would you hope to land in?

This is a difficult one because history tells us the past hasn’t been so kind to women but the clothes, they were fabulous if not slightly oppressive. So if I was like Claire and had some standing stones and I knew I could travel back through the other way AKA home, back to a tooth brush, the internet, my hair straighteners, then I would give the 1920’s a try, it looks fun, the clothes were cool and things were on the look up for us ladies.

2. Claire is a very good nurse, what type of skill would you want to have that a fictional character excels at?

It would be cool to have some super sassy fighting skills!

3. Jamie and Claire are ultimate relationship goals, who is your favourite fictional couple?

I have been reading further on in the  Outlander series and Roger and Brianna are pretty cute also who can forget about Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy?

outlander 2

4. The ending of Outlander was shocking, what is one book you read that totally blew your mind?

Labyrinth by Kate Mosse.

5. Scotland has lots of castles and we see quite a few in Outlander, what fictional kingdom would you want as your own (castle included)?

Westeros from A Song of Fire and Ice by George RR Martin as long as I don’t have to live there, because no sane person would want to live in Westeros would they?

6. Outlander has some very steamy scenes, what is your favourite romance novel?

On The Island by Tracey Garvis Graves such a weepy and perfect for summer!

outlander season 2 5

7. The Jacobite Rising is a huge plot point in the Outlander series, what book has your favourite battle in it?

The whole of the Mortal Instruments series is chock full of great battle scenes that’s what you get with Shadowhunters I guess?

8. Jamie and Claire get married very unexpectedly, what fictional character would you want to marry on a whim?

Will Herondale hands down.. or Jem, or Will oh to be Tessa Grey…

9. Scotland is a beautiful place, what is one fictional world you would love to visit?

The Wizarding World is wayyyy up there, also Narnia so a close second.

outlander season 2 5

10. If you could change the past, would you?

It’s tempting isn’t it to go back fix your past mistakes bit I don’t think you can ever go back. The present makes us who we are and to go back and erase that would be to erase part of our selves.

Outlander Season 2 – Update

outlander season 2 5

It feels like ages since I have had any Outlander in my life but with the ongoing Droughtlander here are some pictures of season 2 and the new teaser to ease the count down to April.

outlander season 2 4

We last left our couple on a boat sailing to France and the new series picks up from were we left them. Series 2 is based on the second novel Dragon Fly in Amber where Jamie and Claire have arrived in France in French court of Charles Stewart ready to stop the Highlands uprising in an attempt to change history and save Scotland.

outlander season 2 2

Claire and Jamie will be facing new and more politically charged dangers than their time in Scotland with the clock ever ticking towards Culloden.

outlander season 2 5

Meanwhile Dragonfly and Amber is the first book that features Jamie and Claire’s redheaded daughter Brianna. While in the books a twenty year old Brianna is mentioned and leads the first chapters the Show-runners have indicated that Brianna may not feature to later on in Season 2.

outlander season 2 3

I hoped this helped the drought and if you’re still feeling the lack of Claire and Jamie in your lives you can watch the brand new teaser trailer here! If that’s still not enough then go pick up the books 🙂

September TBR

tbr

I have high hopes for September and really feel it’s going to be a great reading month. There is so much I want to read at the moment so my theory is chuck it all in my September TBR and endeavour to read it ALL! (Maybe there are some flaws in this plan? We will see…)

I am in a bit of a weird reading mood at the moment where I keep flitting from one book then another, I don’t normally read more than one book at a time but at the moment I have quite a few things on the go all of which I am hoping to finish in September.

  1. Draganfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon #2 Outlander Series

Dragonfly

The second book in the Outlander series, if you haven’t read the first one… what have you been doing and of you haven’t seen the show… guys you are missing out on this guy. Enough said.

2. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

Dragonfly.jpg 2

3. Ariel by Sylvia Plath

Dragonfly.jpg 3

Ariel is a short poetry collection which I am already nearly done with and I am sure will be reviewing soon.

4. The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis

I am currently reading the Chronicles of Narnia as part of my The Problem of Susan Challenge click here to find out more. I am reading the books chronologically hoping that will give me a better insight to the books and to Susan.

5. The Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

Dragonfly.jpg 4

I keep hearing great things about this series and this book has just been sitting patiently on my shelf. I have read the first three chapters and I think it’s something I’m really going to enjoy and look forward to reviewing!

6. Stonemouth by Iain Banks

Stonemouth 7

I watched the BBC adaptation of Stonemouth earlier this year and LOVED it. This is a Scottish Romeo and Juliet with gangsters, what more could you want?

Stonemouth 5

I hope I can get through all these month as well as leaving some time open for some random reads. I’m really excited about my September reading.

Happy reading everyone! x
