WWW Wednesday – 17/2/16

Hi guys! So once again it’s time for WWW Wednesday – a meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words. (Formally hosted at Should Be Reading)

The only rules are to answer the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m currently reading

The Girls by Emma Cline

the girls emma cline

The Girls was my most anticipated read of 2016 and luckily I was approved to read it early thanks to NetGalley. I am only a couple of chapters in but this beautifully written story of murder and cults already has me hooked.

War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

andrej bolkonskij

I have been gripped by the BBC adaptation of War and Peace and of all the reviews I have read book readers seem a bit 50/50 about it claiming it’s ‘sexed up’ for the tele (which it probably is, I mean hello James Nortan!). But I enjoyed the adaptation so much I have now started Tolstoy’s 1000+ page beasty. And I have to admit it is really great to be re-entering this world again.

What did you recently finish?

My Uprooted Review

What do you think you will read next?

I have been in a bit of a reading slump recently but I have a few things on my TBR that I’m leaning towards. Likely candidates are –

Flawed dragonfly in amber

Cecelia Ahern is one of my favourite writers and I’m always really sucked into her stories (P.S I Love You, Love Rosie and A Place Called Here) all great examples of her work. With season 2 of Outlander hitting our screens in April I need to get on this asap, and who doesn’t need a bit of Jamie Fraser in there lives hmm?

Right, well that has been my WWW Wednesday see you next time.

Happy reading everyone!

TBR Book Tag

Hi guys I’m back with another tag and this time it’s the TBR Book Tag! Thanks to Nicolette over at A Little Bookish, A Little Writerly who tagged me. I do love a list and this tag really plays on my need to list everything and a Bookworm actually managing to organize her TBR, well that’s the holy grail!

So lets get started shall we…

hrh

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

Errm, I have several ways that I try, I repeat TRY to keep track with my TBR, I use Goodreads, I have a physical books TBR shelf at home, I have a Amazon wish list as well which I use almost the same way as I use Goodreads it’s just on Amazon. I also have a lot of E-Arcs and Netgalley requests all on my Kindle so really my TBR is a mess!

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?

More print but I have my fair share of eBooks as well.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

I’m a real mood reader and my mood can really dictate what I’m reading. Check out my Confessions of a Mood Reader Post for my info.

A book that has been on your TBR the longest?

Possession by A.S Byatt it’s not that I’m never going to read it it’s just that I haven’t felt the will to pick up Possession since I bought it (which is about 2+ years now)

A book you recently added to your TBR

I recently added War and Peace to my TBR I was inspired by the brilliant BBC adaptation which has been showing on BBC1 staring Lily James and James Norton. It also fits nicely with my 2016 challenge which is to make an effort to read more classics!

war and peace

A book that’s on your TBR strictly because of the cover

Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick I have to admit I only added this book to my TBR because the cover is so gorgeous I don’t really have much interest in reading the book itself (sorry/not sorry)

Hush hush book

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading

I never like to say never.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you are excited for?

The Winds of Winter by George RR Martin  it’s a real shame this won’t be published before the next series of Game of Thrones. I am still so excited for this book A Song of Fire and Ice is such an epic fantasy saga and it has such amazing scope. Plus we all want to know does L+R = J DOES IT?!

got dany

A book on your TBR that everyone has read but you

This is criminal but it has to be the last two books in the Shatter Me series I have been meaning to get to them for a while especially as I loved book 1. Finishing up this series is definitely on TBR for 2016!

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

I don’t actually get alot of book recommendations it’s usually me doing the recommending. But I have a close friend who is a reader (not a blogger though) and he recently suggested I read The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

A book on your TBR that you are dying to read?

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr  is one of the next books I’m planning on reading I’m also really excited to read Passenger by Alexandra Bracken and a play called Rainmaker by  Richard N.Nash.

all the light we cannot see

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR?

There are 598 books on my Goodreads TBR and it’s and ever growing problem.

The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag!

Hi guys and welcome to The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag! It has taken me a while to get round to doing this but it’s here. I was tagged by Always Opinionated Girl why not go and check out her answers to the tag as well. So lets getting cracking…

funny

How long have you been a blogger? I have been a blogger for about five years I started fashion blogging (that blog no longer exists) and then created a personal blog The Musings of Chlo where in the beginning I found myself writing a lot of book reviews among other things and about two years ago that lead to the creation of Paint and Butterflies Books.

At what point do you think you will stop?  Hopefully never, while I’m having fun blogging I don’t have any plans to stop. If it ever becomes boring or doesn’t make me happy anymore then I will stop.

J law

What is the best thing?   The community is so welcoming and it’s great talking to people about books but I have to say the best thing is the discovery of books I never would have known about with out other bloggers/vloggers. Also having my readers come to me and say they never would have known about a book if it hadn’t been for my review-that’s a really satisfying thing.

What is the worst thing? What do you do to make it okay? The worst thing is perhaps the pressure I put on myself it get my posts out and my ever growing TBR. So really I don’t have that much to complain about do I?

How long does it take you to create/find pictures to use?   Not that long, I’m constantly collecting GIFs that I think will be useful at some point and keep them in a blogging GIF folder on my laptop. As for pictures it doesn’t really take that long I search for pictures as I’m writing my post. In the future I would like to do my own graphics but I’m not quite there yet. Who’s your book crush?    You want me to pick just one? Sorry but I have quite a few. Will Herondale, Jem Carstairs, (The Inferal Devices) Jamie Fraser, (Outlander) Mark Darcy, (Pride and Prejudice) Ian O’Shea (The Host).

What author would you like to have on your blog?  I’m torn between Cassandra Clare and J.K Rowling.

What do you wear when you write your blog?    I’m normally wearing my comfy’s so joggers or PJ’s I like to be comfy when I write (and it’s normally an evening thing).

How long does it take you to prepare?  I usually have a few ideas in my head of what what I might post next once I’ve chosen what to post I don’t really prepare I just go for it. (Write first edit later)

How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?  I like it, I think we are lucky to live in an age were books and other readers are so accessible to us.

What do you think one should do to get a successful blog?  I’m pretty new to the book blogging community and my blog exists on a pretty small scale compared to some although I am seeing it grow and progress all the time which is exciting. All I would say is do what you want to do, post regularly and be yourself.

Who do you tag?
